Working alongside Morrison Electrical Services (MES) and Costain Skanska (CSJV) we were instructed as the civils contractor to complete the construction of a new 11kV substation switch room building and the installation of a new 33kV + 66kV HV network to reinforce the network as part of the HS2 North London enabling works.

The project involved;

  • On site construction of reinforced concrete base to facilitate the electrical apparatus, switch room, transformer base and meter kiosk with perimeter fencing, access, drainage and finishing works.
  • Off site within the public highway, the excavation/reinstatement of 820 lin m of carriageway to install 4 x 33kV circuits that will operate at 11kv connecting the UKPN substation located at Atlas Road to the newly constructed switch room located along Victoria Road
  • diversion of two circuits of 66kV oil filled cables

There have been many obstacles along the route testing the skills and working methods of the team(s) however the works were completed on time with zero injuries, multiple safety recognition awards across the team(s) and pioneering use of a low carbon concrete and green diesel+.

Alongside the main works we engaged with the local community on providing construction services to enable a new classroom bus project at Old Oak Primary School.
